| Need Your Help With A.I.U. |
[Oct. 11th, 2005|04:22 pm] |
Taken From Jason's Journal
The American Idol Underground Competition begins this Saturday. Both Steve Sosa and Rhythm Signal are in the competition where listeners get to rate the music they hear on the AIU radio program. Unfortunately the AIU people screwed up our stuff. They did not post an artist profile for Steve Sosa, they put all of Steve's songs under Rhythm Signal's profile (the ones listed as classical) and have only one 45 second Rhythm Signal song when there should be 6. We contacted them a while back and were told it would be corrected right away. We contacted them again last week and were told the same thing and still nothing has been done. I'm not too worried about Rhythm Signal. Our stuff is too weird for most people, but it is very unfair to Steve Sosa. Right now because of their errors he is technically not in the competition when he should be.
So now I'm asking for everyone's help. If AIU receives enough emails informing them that they need to correct these mistakes, it will catch AIU's attention and they will be forced to do something about it. You can send emails to info@idolunderground.com. And thanks in advance to anyone who helps out. It's very much appreciated. |

Went to a wedding this weekend. I had more fun than I thought I would. Being divorced, it's really easy to be cynical, but i still believe that it is a good thing. I actually am a better person because of it and glad I got married, even though it didn't work. It's a lot of work at times, but if you don't work at it crap can happen. The best things in life are rewards of hard work and effort. Sometimes though, the wrong people get married for the wrong reasons, so no matter how hard you work at it, it just won't work. I still want to be with that one. Keep waiting. Congrats to my cousin, Tracy and Robert.
Had fun at the reception, with a little help from the spirits. I'm not the best dancer in the world, but had fun dancing. been awhile since I've done that...felt good.
So now i must jet off into the studio and work on somemore music. Later gators,T |

| | my own, Coldplay, Mike Ryza Trio | ] | Much going on. Much has happened in the world. Recently, dodged a major bullet in the form a hurricane Rita. That was a blessing that it didn't come closer to my friends, family, and me. Many are effected from it and my thoughts and prayers are with them. I boarded up all my windows and even boarded my front porch down with 2x4s staked in the ground. All for nothing, but thank God it missed us. So that was a close one.
Been working on my solo material lately. Someone has inspired me once again. She is going through a very rough time in her life. Reminds me of the tough times I went through a few years back, so the creative juices have been flowing pretty well lately. Just want to help out in any way I can. Music is therapeutic and i hope that my music can help her cope, maybe get closure, or make some sense out of what's going on in her life. I can relate so much. She is a wonderful person and a wonderful friend to me, so it hurts me to even see her going through this. God will guide you.
Most of the new stuff is sort of acoustic rock with some different flavors in the mix. Some are folk, some latin rhythms, just basic stuff, just from the heart. My vocals are starting to come around. Actually sounds like someone singing, but still needs work. Hopefully be finished with them soon. Well, must get out and do some yard work, and then back to the studio. Take care everyone. T |

| | numb | ] | Hey friends, Sitting here, at my house. Nice and cozy, dry, and almost feeling guilty. The poor people New Orleans and the gulf coast arent so lucky. It's sad to see so many people suffering. It's a true test, i think, for all of us, esp the victims of this disaster. I feel so sad all day, hard to work without thinking about them. Yet, I am uplifted thanks mostly to one great radio station, The Buzz 94.5 FM KTBZ in Houston. Starting on this past wednesday at 6am, the great morning show(The Rod Ryan Show) began a Requestathon, utilizing song requests to raise money for the Red Cross relief efforts. They also accepted donations without a song request of course(the route i took due to so many donations coming in). This has been totally incredible. Right now it's 11:30 pm, just over 65 hrs later, and the grand total is well over a half a million dollars; most of which just from individuals, and some large donations from local businesses. Though there are many freaks and losers in this world, the efforts of all that listen to this station prove that there is hope in this sometimes grim world we live in, and gives me a good feeling inside, especially after donating some money and taking part in this. My hat especially goes off to the Rod Ryan Show. They were in studio for almost 2 days straight! You guys rock.Yes, even Travis rocks. I can sort of relate to what some of the victims are going through. When I lived in Houston, I was flooded by tropical storm allison. Even though I lost a lot, and had to redo my house, it is nothing compared to the unbelievable conditions many people are going through right now in New Orleans. I hope things get better there soon. I was going to post a journal complaining about the federal aid. Why has it taken so long for the feds to get things going? But, i'm sure it's much easier said than done. I just have to wonder what's taken the gov. so long to get in there to help those poor souls. Why? After 5 days and many dieing Why? Like I said before, this is a test for all of us. When i first saw the footage of the looting, I thought to myself probably what many would think, "Why are they looting, stealing at a time like this?" But then, i realized that most of them, not all mind you, are just fighting for their lives and their families. It is a struggle for survival that most of us can only imagine going through. I hope order can be established soon and some structure of relief can be installed without miscommunication and misinterpretation on both sides of this disaster. This is the ultimate test for so many. In my opinion, many have failed on both sides. But that is the nature of the beast of disaster. Ultimately, i feel we will learn from this disaster, and hopefully be more informed and more prepared in the future. This didn't have to be this disasterous, but then again it seems we only learn from our mistakes, right? I hope that anyone reading this can do all they can to help in any way that they can, even if it's only watching the tv to see and experience this, maybe we all can learn to help each other in this world. check out the Buzz at www.thebuzz.com They broadcast over the internet,so anyone can check them out. peace out homies, T |

Been awhile. Just sitting in front of this puter. I'm hungry again. You know some people just don't get it. Time to straighten things up. It's partially my fault. Well, again i learn a lesson and forward I move on in life, just a little wiser. Damn, I already know how stupid our president and his administration is, pretty soon I'll be ready for finger painting....yee haw. Homer, pass me another beer. Speaking on a positive note. Congrats to my bro and sister-in-law also, today is their 9th anniversary. That's awesome. God has blessed them, and they deserve it. The world needs more people like them. | | computer hum | ] | What is it going to take to stop the insanity. I just got my phone bill, after a hard day's work. I'm tired. I left my house this morning at 7am, i just got home now at midnight. So maybe I should have saved the phone bill for tomorrow. Well, this was my 2nd bill. The 1st had all the ridiculous set up fees and unnecessary bullshit charges on it, so I was curious to see how much it was going to be. I had a consolidated account consisting of a land-line phone, isp provider, and satellite t.v. I was told when I signed up that my bill would be about $78 per month. Well, I thought that was fair for services and convenient on one statement. Well not only was it more than promised, I was charged an extra $57 in long distance services....F@#k me! I don't use land based long distance. Like most smart people these days, i use my cell phone for that, which is free. YOu might wonder, why do I have a land-line anyway? Well i don't have broad band internet services available where i live yet, so I have to have dial-up for now so you can read what I'm bitching about. Well, tomorrow something is definitely going to change. I will be damned before I pay that. I dont even watch satellite tv that much. Hell, when it rains... the piece of sh*t won't even work. Is it worth forty something freakin dollars? I'm starting to wonder. This really wouldn't bother that much, except for the small fact that the only reason I even signed up for all that crap was everything was only going to be $78 per month. I don't remember the actual cents, but I remember specifically the sales person say, "O, your monthly bill for everything will be $78. and something cents. Well, what the f@#k happened. My current bill is $146 and change. I'm tired and normally wouldn't even think about writing in the journal, but I'm so f@#king pissed, mayber this will calm me down so I can get some shut eye. I've had a rough week, traffic sucked the worst ever today, so I just had to vent. Maybe I should put a genious W '04 sticker on my vehicle, and pretend everything's just f@#kin great. What are yall thinking? W, what a major f@3king idiot. This country's going down. I'm out. Have a good day. |

I'll never buy Tostitos again. Fixing to record some drumtracks for the MRT project. I bought a new snare head. For the longest time, I have always used a coated Ambassador or CS dot for my main snare, but I decided to try something different. Now, I've got an Evans hd dry for my snare. It's coated like my usual, but it has two ply construction with a series of air vents close to the rim. It sounds a little fat for this particular project, but we'll see what happens. Got to chat with an old friend recently. It's good to know that he's doing well and still into music. Music can soothe the soul. I recently watched a live dvd Dream Theater "Live at Budokan" If you are a DT fan- need to check this one out. It has awesome sound. I must be getting old, cuz after watching it the 2nd time, it just didn't do much for me even though the sound and production is killer. I guess I'm just not into DT like i used to be. it kinda saddens me, cuz I remember waiting for Change of Seasons to come out, being so anxious to hear those guys rip it. I still think they are awesome, but I guess my tastes are changing. I really like a song they did on the Falling into Infinity album entitled "Hollow years." They played it on the live dvd, but they changed it a little for the live show. I think the original version is better. They rocked it out too hard,... a little bit over the top. If it ain't broke don't fix it, right? Gotta run, no I didn't say I got the runs. Troops! Later, T |

| | "Battery" Live Binge and Purge-Metallica | ] | Well, I bought a house recently, and said I wouldn't been remodeling anything for a while. Well, I've had a few days off recently. So I decided to build that recording studio that has been in the plans for the last 10 years. I really don't have all the time and or money for it, but you only live once. I figured if I don't do this now, it will never happen. So, I studied briefly, yes i said briefly, a book I borrowed from Jay about building studios on a budget. Well here I am, way over budget, so what. I won't eat out for a long time. I can't wait to record. I really need to get working on drum tracks for the Ryza Trio stuff. I hope everything works okay with my design of the studio. I was kinda limited to space somewhat, cuz I want my house to maintain it's housiness while there's a sound studio in it. From the outside, it doesn't look like much, but there's a lot of work to build a iso-booth. Right now I just finished sheetrocking the interior walls of the iso-booth and hung the entry door. Taping and floating the seams is next. I don't know if I will texture and paint the iso-booth, cuz I'm probably going to cover it in foam. It's going to be great. By the way, i was listening to Metallica Live shit while working today. Great music to swing a hammer to. Peace. Troops, T |

I want to pad down the room so i don't advertise for miles around me with rimshots and crashes. i think i may sheetrock the room, cuz right now there's only panelling. my whole house is panelling just about. It's kinda dated for my taste. for now it will do, but eventually i will rock all the walls and slap some crown molding up, and add some earth tones. but for now, i will focus on the studio area, so i can get to trackin for MRT and my solo stuff as well. i was driving earlier today, and just reached into my CD pouch and slapped in whatever disc i grabbed 1st. | | happy | ] | Well it's been a long time since I updated my journal. Much has happened since the last time. I won't have time to write about everything, but time is always not on my side. I'm sure i'm not alone as far as that's concerned. I have been busy with work lately. More and more I think about starting my own business. But for now the income of two jobs is nice. I'm buying a house right now, so every little bit helps. I'm excited about having my own house again. Now if I come home from work, I can go right to the skins (drumset for the layman), and ease some frustration...while at the same time possibly create a cool drumbeat or lick. I've been trying to work on material for my solo project when I get a chance. In the last couple of months I have recorded some rough demos of about 13 tunes. I have a bunch of riffs and ideas from the past 10 years to choose from. Since the last two years of dealing with separation and divorce i have written some lyrics. I don't know if they're anything all that spectacular, but these were worded from what I felt at that time. I'm still trying to find comfort with my voice, and what I am limited to doing. Some songs I want to scream like Chris Cornell, and others I might want to whisper like Peter Gabriel, yet my voice isnt exactly like either. We'll see what happens. In the meantime, RSR studios will be busy in the production of The Michael Ryza Trio. I was asked to work on this project, and now am really excited to be a part of it. Michael is an accomplished pianist, and a great friend. I've listened to his demos. Pretty damn good. I can't wait to hear the finished product. It will definitely be one of the greatest accomplishments. Mike desearves it probably more than anyone I know. Hopefully the M.R.Trio will be finished soon. Mike's real anxious to finish. It's going to be pretty cool. Hopefully I'll finish my album this spring probably early summer. We'll see. Well, gotta jet. Troops! T

| hello |
[Oct. 30th, 2004|08:58 pm] |
Howdy partners! Just 2 days till the '04 elections. I hope the shrub will be trimmed. We will never have a perfect candidate for president.. John Kerry is not perfect, but I think we need a change in direction. Kerry is our only hope for a new direction. Let's hope it will be in the right direction. I think he will do a better job of accessing situations before taking action. Many conservatives fear that he won't be an effective Commander-in-chief. Well, for me, I didn't know Kerry before the primaries. I didn't know his record or anything about him. It frustrates me that many people think they know this man and his record so well, when truthfully they probably didn't hear about this man any sooner than I. I am willing to give the man a chance. I have noticed that he is a thinker and a very intelligent man, what I think we need as a leader. I said he wasn't perfect earlier because I realize he is a politician. Politicians have to say things sometimes that don't always please everyone, especially Republicans. The same thing goes for both parties. I try to stay in the middle of parties, because it's the ONLY way things can be done in Washington as well as for regular people with different political ideals. We have to work together. I have friends that have different views than I, and I see their point. Many times though, they don't agree with all of my views. I don't understand why they would vote for a man(Bush) who will not accept that he messed up with Iraq, that he would do everything the same knowing what he knows now. He is a human being, and humans make mistakes. He just won't admit it. That's ignorance. In the long run, liberation of countries that are suppressed by dictators will benefit the world, therefore we have to stay in Iraq till some sort of order is established. But while we think about establishing order and peace to savage places, I think this should be done in an effort by as many nations as possible so that we(the USA) don't have to take majority of the casualties and costs of this conflict. As a great Rush lyric goes,"We will pay the price, but we will not count the cost." After watching a program on Kerry's career and a program on his 20 year Senate record, I found out that he is a man that really strives for foreign relations and putting all things on the table. Diplomacy is a must, especially in times like these. Bush had his chance to unite the world. He had it handed to him after 9-11. It's sad that it takes a tragedy like that to bring people together. People world-wide grieved with the victims and our country. I agree with Kerry when he complimented "Mr. Bush in the days following 9-11, I thought he did a good job" I felt that in those few days he was our leader. He had the ultimate opportunity to have a world summit on the War against Terror, to bring the world together in a way that only 9-11 did. He failed to keep that harmony resonating. I hope that John Kerry will try to do a better job to work with other nations and establish the respect that our great country once had. I think that he will, at least I know the present administration won't. I'm willing to look at what I know now and say, We should have handled Iraq differently, there were mistakes made. With that thought in mind, wouldn't the most logical thing to do, be to change direction of the boat if the boats going the wrong way. I know people that agree, yet they won't even consider to vote for Kerry just because they are biased. That is wrong. Open your minds. Troops! Later, T |
